Ingredients
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
2 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cloves
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp salt
Preparation
1. Cream together shortening, brown sugar, egg, and molasses.
2. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, and salt.
3. Combine wet and dry mixtures.
4. Roll dough into balls and dip into sugar.
5. Place on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 8–10 minutes.
